Andy Hirsch

Andy Hirsch’s passion for photography and videography all started in a darkroom he built in a closet under the stairs as a high school student. He loved the idea of composing an image within the frame and then watching the photograph materialize like magic before his eyes in the wash of chemicals. When he was 18, his dad bought his family’s first video camera. He was immediately fascinated with the new possibility of capturing moving images, and what he could further create with this tool—intrigued by all the ways he could retell a story with not only still frames, but though an array of motions and sounds woven together.

Over the years, Andy’s passion grew by documenting his family’s events. He realized the power this medium provided, enabling one to relive the details and emotions of these moments. As the equipment matured and the technology advanced, it was only natural that he fell into this craft.

In 2003, Andy launched Blue Moon Productions—and he’s been capturing his clients’ special memories ever since.

I bring a photographer’s eye and a filmmaker’s talent for storytelling to the art of wedding and event cinematography in order to produce a product that is top quality. I describe our work as journalistic in style, but cinematic in presentation.

Dan Wachs

Born and raised in Palo Alto, California, Dan Wachs is a die hard Cubs fan. Although unfortunate in many respects, this fandom helped to develop a unique character that eventually led him to attend Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. It was there that he discovered his passion for film. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles to study film editing at Video Symphony. Working at a post-production facility in Burbank, Dan was given the opportunity to contribute to the creation of reality TV shows and independent films. Some of the titles he worked on include “America’s Next Top Model,” “Reno 911,” and “The Osbournes.”

After several years in Southern California, Dan was excited to return to his Bay Area roots in 2011. He continues to follow his enthusiasm for film with Blue Moon Productions. And he persists in his belief that this is the year the Cubs will win the World Series (again!).

Blue Moon Productions in Campbell, California, offers videography services to clients in San Francisco, Carmel, Monterey, San Jose, Napa, Sonoma, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Los Gatos, and beyond.
